Sunday Solace: The Light of The World...

Isaiah 60:1-3

Arise and shine, for thy light is come, the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. The Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

Revelation 22:16

I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

"I Want To Walk As A Child Of The Light"
by Kathleen Thomerson

I want to walk as a child of the Light,
I want to follow Jesus,
God sent the stars to give light to the world,
The Star of my life is Jesus.

In Him there is no darkness at all,
The night and the day are both alike,
The Lamb is the Light of the city of God,
Shine in my heart Lord Jesus.

I want to see the Brightness of God,
I want to look at Jesus,
Clear Son of righteousness shine on my path,
And show me the way to the Father.

In Him there is no darkness at all,
The night and the day are both alike,
The Lamb is the Light of the city of God,
Shine in my heart Lord Jesus.

I'm looking for the coming of Christ,
I want to be with Jesus,
When we have run with patience the race,
We shall know the joy of Jesus.

In Him there is no darkness at all,
The night and the day are both alike,
The Lamb is the Light of the city of God,
Shine in my heart Lord Jesus.

May the Lord bless you, make His face to shine upon you, and grant you His peace...

Warmly,

Mrs. Magpie (Sheila) :-)

On a side note, the hymn listed above is one which my sister and I sang to my mother right before she left this world for the next. We wanted the last thing of which she was fully cognizant to be her daughters' voices lifted in praise to the Lord while the first thing she heard in the next world would be the angels' voices doing the same. She went home to be with the Lord on May 15, 1990, and I rejoice that she is with Him! Here are two links to You-tube videos where the hymn is being sung. This first is a beautiful rendition (one of the most beautiful I've heard) that is part of a memorial to a little boy (get out the tissue!) if you click here and the second is a choir performance in church if you click here.

One further note, the photograph above was taken on Friday in St. Augustine. When I saw the scene with the star and the crescent moon shining over the city, specifically the Convent of the Sisters of St. Joseph and the flat-roofed house with its light on inside (a house that had formerly been a stable), it reminded me of Bethlehem. Then I immediately thought of that hymn and of the fact that Jesus is the star of my life, a life into which He shines His unfathomable love for which I am eternally grateful. :-)
