Sometimes The Good Guys Really Do Win!

During the chaos that was my life this summer (and it seems that every time I turned around something else happened), I missed one of the most important events in the life of one of the most important people in my life.

My cousin got married!

And not only did he get married, he married an absolutely beautiful girl, inside and out.

You know we are always girls, don't you? ;-)

Now, the good news is, I know and love this girl's family, and while she is younger than I and while I haven't seen her in years, I could not be more thrilled for both of them.

Here are my cousin's wife and I in this photo -- she, the cute little sweetie on the right hand end of the front row next to her big sister, and I, dead center in the second row from the bottom, being poked in the seat by a friend's big sister (note the evil gleam in her eye). My cousin's wife's cousin and my lifelong friend D is on the back row right. Who knew when we went to this children's TV show that one day this sweet girl and I would be cousins and that D and I would be cousins by marriage! ;-)

Sometimes, the good guys really do win, and this is a case of that!

My cousin's name was that of my father (they even have the same little cleft in their chins), and since I'm a Daddy's Girl, I have a proprietary interest in this boy's happiness.

He is a great guy and the perfect gentleman and as sweet as can be. You just can't help but love him, and I do. But more importantly, his girl does! ;-)

I mean how could you not love a man who quotes Shakespeare from memory? Please!

Do you know what it means for your heart to rest easy over your loved ones? Mine rests easy knowing that a favorite cousin is married to a lovely lady, and I mean lovely and lady in every sense of those words. And they are a beautiful couple!

To that end, I want to wish these two lovebirds all the happiness in the world! I am THRILLED for you both, and I pray God's richest blessings are yours, both now and always...

This is the Day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it!

XO,

Sheila (Mrs. Magpie)

P.S. Want to see what we gave them for a wedding gift?

Yeah, I thought so! ;-)

I was so thrilled that he was marrying her, I/we sent her/them, something in the famous blue box, and thankfully, she/they loved it! Score!

Click HERE to see. It's the Lily of the Valley pitcher. I loved the shape and the design. She said it was gorgeous in person. :-)

Yeah! Cupid wins again. I am such a sucker for a good love story. You can see the gleam in the eye of a man in love. Quotes Shakespeare off the top of his head. They should do a new Tom Cruise movie about this couple.

Nice of you to post and tribute thier happiness. I love the old photo. Your little quips that you throw in always make me laugh.

Hope your well Mrs. Magpie.
It's been so long since we saw each other already. Just so you know - never forgotten.

Hi Sheila--I so enjoyed reading this heartwarming post. I'm so happy for your cousin John and Anne. It's wonderful to welcome a new family member with such excitement and gladness.

I hope things are going better for you and Mr. Magpie these days, and that sunshine has come back to your city after the long stretch of rain and wind.

They are a gorgeous couple! I can tell that he would be a man after my own heart. (If I didn't already have a man after my own heart, of course...) I mean, a man who loves Shakespeare? The girl got a prize, methinks.

And apparently, so did he.

Congratulations to both of them!

(Loved the pitcher. If I pretend to get married, will you pretend to send one to me? Huh?)

Well, I am sorry to say that I am not sure if I will ever speak to you again: How DARE you have such a GORGEOUS cousin as John, and not set me up with him?????!!!!!!
Oh, OK, I guess Anne deserves to have him... she is pretty and looks like a nice person. However, do you have any other good-looking cousins? Come on, spill it!!!! ;)
And although I LOVE your 'kid' photo, I can't decipher who the bad little girl is, pinching you, from your description. The one in the row you described, the "naughty" one with the look on her face seems to me to be the blonde who has another little girl in between the two of you. So if that blonde's the one, then MAN, she has a far reach! LOL!
Best,
Gloria
P.S. I'm so damn happy I saw this post. As you know, I usually do not keep up with my reading list and see your posts two weeks late. Bad Gloria! BUT: GOOD Gloria today. :)
I won't be the last comment for once. Hooray! :)

Bill said...

No, Gloria, you're not the last to comment this time! I'm sure I won't be either though, not when we're visiting the beloved Mrs. Magpie!

And, Sheila, during our flurry of e-mails over the past couple of days, you never mentioned that you had a new post I needed to see. That's you, ever the Southern lady, modest to a fault!

Your cousin and his lady love are indeed a stunning couple! How fortunate they are to have found each other (and to have received such a thoughtful, generous gift from such a kind, very special person!).

Wishing you all the very best,
Bill

Hi Sheila Sweetie...
Oh how precious they look together, and how wonderful is this picture to go back in time and remember when. I love the little faces of you all, and I see that one gleaming behind you as she pokes. I knew one of those gals as well. Always picking on the younger ones.

I had to pop over and see the pitcher. OH my GOSH...How beautiful that pitcher is. I love Lily of the Valley, and each time they use it, they will think of you and Mr. Magpie and the love that was shared in the gift.

Congrats to the happy couple. They look precious together. I love the photo share. Thank you sweet friend for allowing me to go along to the wedding as well. Aren't photos the best?

I have missed blogging, and I am so happy to have a computer again. Am playing catch up. Many hugs sweetie and so much love, Sherry
