...and in grateful celebration of a life well lived.
My dear, dear friend and sister of the heart, Adelaide, went home to be with the Lord yesterday. We got the call shortly before midnight on Monday that the 24 hour Hospice had been ordered, and then we received another call the next morning saying she had died.
I had not wanted to discuss this here on the blog in respect for her wishes that no one outside the immediate family and closest friends know, but this is one reason I've been gone and will have to be gone for a bit longer. A lot of lives have been affected. A lot of adjustments have to be made. A lot of tears dried, not only mine, but those of people I love dearly.
I want to take this opportunity to say that I will never, ever be able to repay this wonderful lady for not only allowing me the privilege of calling her my friend, but of allowing me (and Mr. Magpie) to be a part of her family. If your friends are your family you choose for yourself, then I would pick Adelaide to be a part of my forever family, and she is. She's a true sister/friend of the heart. And while we are sad over her passing, we do rejoice that she is in Heaven with the Lord and that we will see her again. That is truly the Good News! Thank you, Jesus!
Today is also the day that my father went home to be with the Lord in what seems like a lifetime ago and yet, it seems like yesterday, too. Such an odd feeling that so many years have passed since I hugged him for the last time and heard him say, "I love you, dahlin'."
In the mean time, I am sending you warm hugs from my heart to yours, especially to three fellow Floridians: Rhonda on the death of her sister and to Lisa on the death in her family. I also rejoice with Sally that she is home from the hospital, a miracle for which I am so very thankful as I know all who love our Smiling Sally are!
Please take good care of yourselves and those you love. Rejoice in the little day to day things that compose life, and be glad in them today...

P.S. For those who know about this (and for those who don't), Mr. Magpie is doing better. His shingles are nearly gone. Yes, on top of the kidney stones, he has been battling shingles. But he really is better now for which I give thanks! Thank you for your prayers and love as well! xoxoxo

We rejoice in Adelaide's homecoming, she is now seeing Jesus and oh what other sights she is seeing. Those here that remain do morn her passing but know soon they/you will see her again.

So sorry for your loss, Sheila. I know that mixed feeling of sorrow, aching heart, and yet that glimmer of joy for those that have passed on. And I know that feeling of loss, when you wrote about your father, that feeling like it's been ages and ages since they were in your life, and that void you know will never be filled in this life, that spot in your heart that only certain people can fill.

Thank you for your visit today! Yes we do get the change of seasons. Some trees are starting to change and so are the grapevines. My current header picture is one I took last Fall when I stopped along a road and took the pictures. Such a pretty time around here. Only thing is we are still having some hot weather. Indian Summer we call it around here. I am so looking forward to it cooling down to more comfortable temps. Not triple digit. It is still hot in the house right now. Around 85. And 79 outside. Not cooling down fast enough for me. Hope all is well with you. I have blogged several times now recently including my craft blog. Gotta go and do a post there now for my Quilt Crumb Along I am doing! Fun times.
