Today, I'm celebrating Foodie Friday at our dear Gollum's blog, and I thought since we are approaching Valentine's Day, it might be the perfect time to share some tasty treats and eye candy with you...
I'm also going to hook up with sweet Beverly for Pink Saturday since she asked us to share a Valentine-inspired post, and what better way to do that than to share a pink bridal tea. A pink-lover named Peggy gave this particular tea last winter (yes, this post got tucked aside for a bit) in honor of a young bride named Mary Anne (my surrogate niece)...
Aren't the flowers magnificent???
The tea was held at a country club, so the flower arrangements had to be scaled appropriately which = enormous...
Using Peggy's urns, the arrangements were done by Linda, florist extraordinaire and owner of Petals, The Flower Shoppe...
And the flowers were so...
So...
So...
SO gorgeous...

People say it's all in the details...
And the decorative details at this tea were, indeed, lovely...

These were the party favors...
Inside the bags, there were things for teatime and little heart-shaped cookie cutters...
Look at the sweet little spoon with the rose on its handle, attached with pink ribbon to the pink gossamer bag...

Roses, among other beautiful flowers, were not only showcased in the large arrangements, but Linda edged the tables with pretty nosegays...
Along with delicate swags of galax...

And there were ladies all dressed up in their fanciest outfits, some with their babies dressed to match...
The strawberries came from Plant City, Florida, the official "Winter Strawberry Capital of the World" and home to the world-famous Strawberry Festival...
And the guests particularly enjoyed the plump berries with powdered sugar...
There were lots of delicious treats...
And these little truffles melted in your mouth...
Would you care for a heart-shaped scone? Please help yourself, and be sure to try the strawberry jam. However, if you're looking for the clotted cream, you won't find it. I took this shot before the cream appeared on the table. Oops...
To make up for that oversight, I'll share my date ball recipe with you. My date balls look a lot like the ones in this next shot. I "borrowed" my recipe from Rhoda at Southern Hospitality who "borrowed" hers from another friend...
I wish I had the recipe for these wonderful cookies...
They disappeared rapidly...
But I'm afraid the recipe for the cookies is 1-800-Caterer which is the best kind!!! :-)
Now, that we've enjoyed ourselves as guests at a pink party, please join me in thanking our lovely hostesses, Gollum and Beverly, for these fun memes they host every single week! For more Foodie Friday posts at Designs by Gollum, let's all click HERE , and for more Pink Saturday posts at How Sweet the Sound, we can click right HERE . Thanks for visiting me, and I look forward to visiting you at your blog!

Oh, and Beverly asked us to introduce you to a new blogger each week. Last week, my friend Yvonne of Stone Gable linked to me. Well turn about is fair play, and this week, I'm linking to her! She is a sweetheart, very talented tablescaper, and an amazing cook! Please go check out her blog. You will love it! You may get there by clicking right HERE ! :-)

And Beverly, we pray that you feel better soon! Thinking of you as you recover from surgery!
Happy Valentine's Day!
Warmly,
Mrs. Magpie (Sheila)... who is still in exile, but trying desperately to blog at least once a week!
Recipe for Date Balls or "Dingbats" as borrowed from Rhoda at Southern Hospitality:
1 stick butter
1 pkg. dates (10 ounce container)
1 cup sugar
2 cups Rice Crispie Cereal
1 cup chopped pecans
Powdered sugar
Place butter, dates, and sugar in a saucepan and stir to melt butter, blending all together.
Add 2 cups Rice Crispie Cereal.
Add 1 cup chopped pecans.
Mix well and let cool to touch.
Spoon into balls and roll in powdered sugar.
ENJOY! And share these or another sweet treat with someone you love for Valentine's Day, or share them with those you love in order to make any day special! :-)

beautiful flowers!
That is the most wonderful bridal tea I have ever seen. (I guess I Just don't hang out with the right people!) Gorgeous and yummy!
Sheila! Everything is GORGEOUS! Smashing! I adore those little girls with their matching dolls. That is the sweetest thing ever and those tea time bags...think they will care if I steal that idea?! Great post my friend!
Gasp...beeeeee still my heart. Boy would I have loved to have attended that Tea. I'd have gone as an ANT if I had to.
Love to you~
Rebecca
Such a bunch of delicious treats Sheila. I am with some of the previous posters: I wish I had been there. Everything looks so elegant, refined and beautiful. I loved the idea of the treat bags, the lovely flowers and the heart-shaped cookies. They do look delicious.
Hello my dear friend,
Such a lovely post!! The pink bridal tea was fabulous and those flower arrangements are making my heart beat a little faster, so, so pretty! I love the little girls with their baby dolls. I am sure everyone must have had a magical time. Thank you for brightening this cold winter evening in Central Texas! Vicki
Your Valentine cookies look so yummy, Sheila. Oh I miss the Strawberry Festival. We used to go every year....Christine
The bridal tea looks so elegant. Our church is having a day of pampering for caregivers. I have volunteered to host a table, make 80 scones and donate tea cups and platters. Looking at your photos gave me an idea. I will include my little silver tongs. I would not have thought to bring those. Thanks for the inspiration.
Hi Sheila,
I loved going to the party with you! What fun, what beauty! The little girls look so gorgeous in their dresses and all the flowers and decor just made this outstanding! I am so glad you come out and play still, we miss you when your gone too long. Hugs and Happy Valentine's Day. Cindy
Outstandingly BEAUTIFUL!!! I ♥ all those flowers (wish I'd been a florist instead of a nurse) & treats to match.
They put a great deal of thought into this party, you can tell. I ♥ the little spoons on the favors....great idea.
I am bookmarking this page so that when Caroline grows up & gets married, I will still have the inspiration. Thanks so much for sharing it & Thanks for the well wishes for our anniversary, too. :)
fondly,
Rett
What gorgeous pictures! I love the flowers. The recipe is interesting, I'll try it out.
Lovely post!♥♥
WOW! Everything is gorgeous and those little girls? How adorable are they? Those gift bags full of goodies are fabulous, I had to copy the photo and the info on them to my files for future reference.
I will, however, take exception to one thing. Sorry my dear, I know you'll never believe me, BUT I swear its true — Plant City strawberries are no match for those from California. Now I don't mean the California berries you can find in the stores outside of the state. I mean the ones sold at Farmer's Markets and roadside stands in Cali. You would think you had died and gone to heaven if you could taste just one of these straight from the source and ripened on the vine.
You've inspired me now to change my FF post to one about California's Strawberry Festival. Stop by tomorrow and you'll see why it is the best!
xoxoxoxoxoxo
Oh those gorgeous flowers!!! They are my FAV!!! I love lilies with passion, and those pink ones are so beautiful! And the little girls with the matching dolls are so cute. Just gorgeous!
What a lovely bridal shower--such attention to detail. I'm so glad you shared this!
The flowers are GORGEOUS!
And sadly anything I might find in the vending machine here at work would pale in comparison to those yummy treats. sigh...
boy oh boy! you gals sure know how to put on the ritz for a bridal shower! everything is soooo beautiful... the flowers are amazing... the food looks delightfully delicious... love the nosegays on the table.. and the two little princesses with their babies!
hugs. Dixie
Sheila, that is the most precious tea-party I have ever seen. So very lovely!!! Happy Valentine's Day

BTW I wish you were in England with me too although it is very cold and we actually had snow yesterday like a lot of others it seems, it wont settle though. hope you have a wonderful weekend, hugs, Kathy.
Hi Dear Sheilaness! You're in exile? Oh, my goodness and you've manage to post! :)

Shelia, I'm back to say thank you for the tip about the favors & also I forgot to thank you for the recipe. ~insert blush~
I already have a HUGE stash of wide white satin ribbon for the pews for Caroline's wedding. I found a fantastic sale & couldn't resist. LOL Please Lord, let me live long enough to see her married??
I will go hunting for those beautiful favor spoons right now! :)
fondly,
Rett

Oh Sheila Sweetie...
How very beautiful and elegant this post is. Just perfect for Valentine's Day. I love the urns with the flowers, and the tables were set up so beautifully. What an elegant shower this was.
I loved the little ones in their finest for tea along with their doll babies ofcourse. How very precious. (The dimples were so sweet in the little face) We have a few dimples in our grandchildren.
I am going to try that recipe you have shared. It sounds so wonderful. The strawberries are always a hit aren't they and what a beautiful idea to have the tea bags with spoons for party favors. I am sure your guests thought so too.
I love your little cherub containers. Aren't they just the sweetest thing ever? Your roses are so elegant. Love them. Thank you for sharing and allowing me to travel along to the beautiful country club.
Yes, I will be your Valentine sweetie. Country hugs and so much love to you, Sherry
I had to scroll back up and read again that it really was a tea party!! It looked like a wedding party. You always go to the BEST parties Mrs. Magpie. Nothing small in your neck of the woods. All was adorable, especially the little wee ones.
I'm lying low also for the month. I squeak a post in here and there, but otherwise I'm the observer. It's kind of fun.
As for March, it's coming together. I think GA. will be on the agenda for a couple days, then Fla. for the little get together. I am SOOOOOO anxious, you have no idea.
More dental work to be done. I'm so wanting this to be over with.
Sending hugs... and I hear it's getting warmer there...hurray!!
Love Claudie
xxoxoxox

Ohhh my...what a fabulous post, my friend! Thank you so much for sharing this lovely bridal shower/tea with us...it was certainly magnificent!!! The flowers...Ohhhh my!!! This lady who created those bouquets was really talented...they are some of the prettiest that I've ever seen! Now I'm wondering if the bride to be was able to take them home with her to enjoy? You are absolutely right when you say it was all in the details and the details, right down to those beautifully monogramed napkins...were just gorgeous! Incredible!!! Such eye candy!!! Ohhh...and don't even get me started on all the sweets! Hehe!
Well dear lady...thank you so much for coming by and taking a peek at my Beloved Valentine table...I always enjoy your visits and your sweet notes always brighten my days...thank you!!!
Warmest wishes and Happy Valentine's Day...
Chari @Happy To Design
Sheila, this is absolutely stunning. I don't think I've ever seen a bridal tea this lovely. The flowers are magnificent. And those two little ladies in their fanciest dress are precious. Now did you really take the shot before the cream came out? In my case I probably would have eaten it all before I took the shot lol. And I know that Plant City has wonderful strawberries, and Rhonda is clamoring for California strawberries to get their props, but have you ever had a Poteet Texas strawberry? They are amazing! Beautiful post. Kathy
Sheila, these flowers are stunning!! What a beautiful shower this was!! And thank you for the recipe, I have copied it and saved it!
Missing you, but I know how busy you are!!
Lou Cinda :)
What a breathtaking way to decorate for a bridal tea...being that pink is one of my favorite colors! Those flowers leave me speechless...WOW, do they ever make a statement! Oh, not to mention those delicious goodies! Now, that's MY kind of party! Have a great day, Sheila!!!
Now this is a party I would love to attend. The flowers are fabulous and the food...yum! I've been to Plant City during the season...had a fresh strawberry milkshake while I bought my berries. They are so good! I enjoyed my visit...this was beautiful.
I just love the fact that you were able to send these magnificent photos out, without get caught. What a breathtaking party. Those flowers are just absolutely stunning. The food is making my mouthwater.
Thanks for making me smile.
Have a blessed week
This is so beautiful, fantastic, and the only thing that would have made it better would be if I could have been there!!!
Shelia,
The Shower Tea was breath taking! Pefect for a bride. Mary Anne had to feel like a princess.
The flowers were so lovely and stunning is a perfect way to describe them.
You can tell a lot of love went into all the fabulous details. I do hope they are enjoying a ver happy life.

Your eyes are wide open Sheila. Details can nourish the soul when they are fully accepted and allowed to flow through us without hindrance. The fineness of life transforms our inner world and leads us on exquisite outer journey. Yours is truly blessed.

Oh Shelia! What a beautiful bridal tea, I can't seem to find the words to describe it, I just would love to have been there.
Those beautiful girls reminded me of our two youngest g-daughters, just about the same age, and their dresses beautiful.
Thanks for sharing.
Wishing you and yours a very Happy Valentines Day.
Hugs,
Sue
Sheila, your post is beautiful. such gorgeous photos of EVERYTHING. What a lovely day with beautiful flowers. The little girls and their dolls are so darling. I sure miss those wonderful Plant city strawberries. We used to go to Webster on Mondays for those strawberries in season and flea/antique market shopping. Love the eye candy and your recipe sounds wonderful even if it was stolen. HA!(or borrowed)
Yes Cheri' is under the weather. Poor baby. That cone is a terrible thing to endure and she hates it. I do too. She has to wear it about 3 more days. sigh.
Have a wonderful Friday.
Hugs xoxo, Jeanne
Hi Sheila...what a beautiful tea party. The food was amazing...the floral arrangments stunning! But what completly stole my heart were those two precious little girls with their baby dolls! They were completely adorable...dimples and all! Thanks for taking us along...what a sweet event!
XOXO
Susan
The tea looked wonderful, but the 2little ones stole the show. How absolutely gorgeous they are! Loved the cookie comment about 1-800 caterer! too funny...
Oh la la. it all looks fabulous! The flowers, those adorable little girls...and the food..wonderful!
What beautiful photographs - and what a lucky bride to have such a wonderful tea party arranged for her!
Hi Sheila,
Thanks for your sweet comments! I have been to Florida 4 times but always to Orlando (Disney) and then further south. My Mom's sister lives in Sarasota, so we have been there and Daytona, etc. I spent one Christmas with my ex on the beach, but it didn't seem like Christmas to me. My Mom has been to St. Augustine, and she loved it. I so want to go, it sounds like my kind of town. Since starting the pause, I actually get warmer. Which is a good thing , since it's so darn cold. Enjoy all your beautiful weather! Actually, Wisconsin has gorgeous summer weather. Last summer it was in the upper 70's to low 80's nearly every day. I like some hot, but we only had 3- 90 degree days last summer. My hubby on the other hand, hates hot so he was happy. Have a lovely week-end, Hugs, Cindy
You do okay for an expatriot Sheila, this a truly gorgeous shower--how could forget to post it??!! Those flowers are gorgeous, especially in the tall urns. Stargazer lilies are one my favorites. It is just as well that you don't have the cookie recipe--they look labor-intensive!! I love the little girls in their beautiful little tea length dresses with their babies--they look like the American Girl Baby---can't wait to buy those again one day :). Yes, the Rendevous is still open and still a hot spot, especially for tourists. My son had a college roommate from Plant City! Have Happy Heart Day and enjoy your beautiful roses :)
I fell in love with the cute baby dolls holding their baby dolls in matching outfits. Too cute! Now the flowers and food were pink and pretty and I love the idea of 1-800 cater:) Thanks for sharing the date ball recipe. I have copied it and will give it a try in the future. Happy Valentine's day.
Joyce
Your exile posts are more interesting than most day-to-day posts. Perhaps we should all go to this Exile Island.

I've been in exile, right w/ ya! What a fun party! That is my kind of shindig! Those flowers are gorgeous! That looked more like a wedding than a tea. Liked the party favors too. Love it when the host 'Martha Stewart's' it up! Have a great Valentine's day! Looks like you've got yourself some purdy flowers for the occasion. Hope you don't get too much snow down there.
oh that food, oh those flowers...oh oh oh! it's all amazing!! i pray that you have a fantastic weekend, and Happy Valentines Day to YOU!

Hi Sheila,
Do you know how many times I have been over here, ready to comment when I have been interrupted? But I won't be interrupted today. What an amazing tea/shower! I adore all of the pink and the hearts as well as the party favors. The sweet little girls are adorable, too. And thank you for the recipe, I have had that somewhere, not sure where, and they are very delicious. I have tried out other recipes of Rhodas and they are always good.
Thank you so much for your sweet comments on my new kitchen, I am loving it so much. Cooking in it is a dream!

That wedding party looked amazing. The flowers were a masterpiece on the corners of the tables even. You are so right - it is in the small details - and the gift sachet bags lovely too.
I would like you to tell me how to link to other peoples pages by profiling them or thanking them because I don't know how to do that. I always want to mention someone but can't figure it out.
Thanks Sheila.
