A Very Merry Unbirthday: Let's All Go To The Beach!

Who says it has to be your birthday to have a birthday party?

I've never seen it written in stone that you have to celebrate your birthday ON your birthday, have you?

Didn't think so.

And even if there were such a rule, you could still beat the winter doldrums...

And have an un-birthday celebration!

That's exactly what I've chosen to do today, and the first thing I'm going to do is go cupcake shopping...

Care to join me?

There's an infinite variety from which to choose...

And while chocolate is always a good bet...

I think I will head on over to my very favorite cupcake store, Luli's HERE...

And order their Lemon-ginger cupcakes with butter cream icing...

Yeah, baby, yeaaaaaaaah...

You talk about a cupcake that can make your eyes roll into the back of your head...it's so moist you can see it!

Yes, this one can definitely qualify as an eye roller... with its flavorful butter cream icing!

Let me assure you this cupcake can slap the winter blues straight into the next century... its light and airy kick of ginger and lemon is like having a little bite of sunshine!

Even the cupcakes are smiling...

So let's grab a few and then set a beachy table...

Here's one for you, one for me...

Two for you, two for me...

We can just hop from place to place, like at the Mad Hatter's Tea Party, and wish each other a Very Merry Un-birthday as we go...

Even my dear mother in law, Mother Magpie, [as she's seen pictured here at a family birthday celebration last summer] approves. Oh, and don't forget the ice cream!

EDIT: On the birthday front, I have a couple of very special birthdays I'm celebrating. My sweet friend Missy (right) celebrated her birthday recently, and my sweet friend Cece (left) is turning the big 4-0 today (1-25-11)! Wishing you both oceans of happiness now and always. You have sowed so much joy into my life that I hope it comes back to you pressed down, shaken together, and overflowing. Happy Birthday on your special day and a Very Merry Un-Birthday on each day of your life. I love you more than I can say! XOXOXOXOXO

Now, please join me at The Tablescaper for Seasonal Sundays right HERE.

And them pop over to a new meme (this is the fourth one) called
Cupcake Sunday HERE.

Next let's pop over to see Smiling Sally for Blue Monday HERE.

And finally, let's go visit Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday right HERE.

Thanks, ladies, for hosting these events, and thanks so much to each of you for visiting me. I look forward to visiting you to see what is going on in your world. It's always a pleasure! :-)

Warmly,

Mrs. Magpie (Sheila)

P.S. If I'm a wee bit late visiting you, please know that I'm traveling off and on this week, and I will visit just as soon as I can! Travel is a glorious word after having been trapped in the house for a month while I was sick and recuperating!

WHERE I FOUND IT:

Plastic Dessert Plates, Tray, and Green Charger: Target (clearance, last summer)

Goblets: Anthropologie (clearanace, two or three years ago)

Tablecloth: Target (shhhhhhh... it's really a cotton shower curtain)

Flatware: Target (purchased years ago, but this pattern is still available at several places)

Cake Stand: Marshall's (possibly clearance, last year)

Red Lantern: Pier One (clearance, last year)

Napkins: Birthday Gift from Cousin Nancy

Starfish: Tom's Souvenirs and Seashells of St. Augustine

Smiles: Compliments of Luli's Cupcakes of St. Augustine! ;-)

Oh, I needed a little sunshine from my sunshine friend this morning. As I sit here, the outside temp is a brisk 36°F. I'm contemplating going to the beach when the sun comes up, but it's only going to warm to 42° by 9am and won't hit the 50s until 11am.

Perhaps I'm better off sitting here with you and Mother Magpie, eating cupcakes and enjoying each other's company. Yes, yes, that's what I'll do, please pass a lemon-ginger one to me!

Oh what a spread, Perfect colors for a party on an un-party...Those cupcakes, boy... they made my teeth curl.... just thinking of biting into one. YUM!! YUMMY!

I came by earlier to wish you Happy UnBirthday. About the time I started to ring the doorbell Sweet Old Bob developed sudden hunger pangs. Well you know what that means.
I am back now and I love your table. The colors are just what I needed today. The plates are so fun and work very well with the chargers. The cupcakes, especially the lemon that came home with you. I could have just stayed here and dined on the lemon cupcakes and let Bob fend for himself. Alas, they were not real for me and that is just as well.
I am glad that you are feeling well enough to travel. Enjoy and come back home safely. Hugs, Ginger

Happy unbirthday to you!! You make me want to have cupcakes for breakfast - boy did those look YUMMY!!
I am more of a chocolate girl my self- and those chocolate cupcakes with the chocolate chips on the top "had me at hello" :)

Thanks for always taking the time to stop by and say hi - you have been such a dear friend to me - I am sorry I am not always faithful to reply but I DO stop by when I am able - (probably more than I should - when I really SHOULD be studying - I seem to procrastinate and visit blogs)
After this nursing program is done (in 6 months - yay!) life will get back to normal and I will have more time to chat
Blessings on your day today!

Have an absolutely wonderful time and I know you will be feeling much better once you breathe that wonderful beach air.

This is such a fun post! And I love the photo of your mother-in-law! Sweet!
And I love cupcakes! That would please me very much on my birthday (or on my un-birthday!). Last year on my birthday my husband and grandson made me cupcakes and used a very pretty cupcake tier to display them, I loved it! This year they made me a sheet cake and I loved that too!
Your table is so festive! And you always set such a unique table, it's wonderful!
And those lemon cupcakes with the 'lemon slices' on top were the best!
I'll gladly settle into a chair at your table. That would be so fun!
Love to you,
Eileen

Thanks for coming by and leaving that sweet note.
I have been so busy taking care of Addison that I can hardly keep up with anything else!
Now I know why people should have their babies in their 20's and 30s'! hehe. She is such a good baby but it's still a lot of work.
But the thought of her going to a daycare at 3 months makes me keep going.
Enough about me. I hope your feeling well and that your sunshine starts to move up here!
Hugs,
Cindy

What a fun post, Sheila.... perfect for my "un-birthday" week this week since I had a birthday last week. :)

I enjoyed reading this post and seeing the cheery colors, etc!

We are going to try to get up to St. Aug soon. I'm going to look at the picture of your house again so I can look for it!

I haven't been to Luli's cupcake store yet. After seeing those cupcakes I'm wanting to check it out!

Thanks for the sweet comment!
