Delightful Whimsy: Patricia, Chloe and the Enchanting World of Doll Making!

The Blogsphere is very much a microcosm of the world at large, and like the world, there are all sorts of people out there...

Numbered among the populace are some creative, generous souls who are true artists in every sense of that word. Though sometimes unsung, these artists make the world a brighter, better place for their having graced it....

Over the course of my blogging, I've discovered several artists whose talents simply dazzle me. Today I'd like to shine the light on one such person and her creations...

As anyone who reads this blog knows, I'm pretty crazy about toys, and I sat in rapt amazement when I clicked on a link one day to find a portal into Patricia's world at Papillion Bleu UK. Patricia is a doll-maker extraordinaire and a lover of whimsy, a girl after my own heart. And one of the things that delights my whimsical friend the most is living in this charming storybook cottage in the English countryside...

A cottage where she often looks out this very window (see it in the distance in this next shot) onto this wisteria-laden scene and dreams. Patricia declares that the window is "perfect for a daydreamer," and I heartily agree...

Patricia's dreaming began early in life as she spent spent some of her childhood in a lovely chateau on a French estate featured below. According to Patricia, "It is called Le Chateau de Noizé. A beautiful manor with 17 Acres of lands and woods around. Heaven for a child who discovers nature after having spent the beginning of her life in Paris"...

Patricia talks more about dreaming on her blog and states:

"I am a dreamer and dreams have no scale. So, most of the time, my handmade dolls pay a visit to my mini tea room and I mix everything: mini cakes, 1/12th and other sizes, dolls, teddies., tin toys...anything that sends me back to childhood. This is all what my universe is about: innocence, fun and dreams."

Daydreaming is one thing, but Patricia has managed to transfer the delightful whimsy and charm of her dreams into each doll she makes. As a matter of fact, I was so excited over Patricia's dolls that Mr. Magpie gave me one named Chloe for a gift...

Ah, Chloe, a girl who LOVES to shop for shiny objects...

And don't you just love her name???

It's French like her beautiful creator...

Chloe stands only a few inches tall...

But she lives large...

Much like Patricia, who knows how to celebrate life...

Just to give you an idea of Chloe's diminutive size...

I took the liberty of photographing her in front of some of my birdhouses...

Chloe does have her very own dollhouse (not seen here) which I'll share with you in a future post. In this next shot she's standing in front of a birdhouse crafted especially for us by my friend Rue, a birdhouse that was featured in this post. Thanks again, Rue! :-)

And now I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Patricia for creating adorable little Chloe and then being generous enough to allow my husband to purchase her for me...

Patricia, please know that Chloe is well loved and very, very spoiled! ;-)

Instead of weaving a tale here about Chloe, I'm going to let the master of story-telling, Patricia, do that for you. For you see, Patricia created the most amazing video about Chloe entitled, "Chloe and The Little Drummer Boy". Believe me when I tell you, Patricia's videos are as enchanting as her dolls! This video only takes a few minutes, but it is SO worth seeing. It's a guaranteed day-brightener, and you can get there by clicking below:

Wasn't that fun??? And not only did Patricia create lovely Chloe and her story and many of the things you see in her story such as the little sweet treats, but Patricia has other dolls to share. Right now, Patricia's very own Aliénore is having a first birthday, and you won't want to miss that because everyone is invited! You can get there by clicking right HERE.

When something is good and can transfer you to a dream world of innocence and fun, it is well worth doing, and I hope that meeting Patricia, watching this video of Chloe, and visiting Patricia's blog (which is FILLED with whimsical posts) did just that for you! :-)

I am linking this post to Blue Monday because there is just enough blue in this post to qualify for that meme at my dear friend Sally's blog. You may get there by clicking right HERE. Thank you, Sally, for hosting us today!

And thank you for visiting me today. I look forward to visiting you as well. Here's wishing you an especially happy week, a week that is constructive, productive, and filled with the joys of everyday living...

XO,

Mrs. Magpie (Sheila)

P.S. Please know that I received no compensation for this post other than the sheer joy of sharing my friend Patricia's talents with other bloggers! As I have said before when asked, I have no interest in doing commercial advertising on this blog. Thank you!

Oh,
What an enchanting post. Sheila when I am not creating art, I am shopping for art, or admiring art. I have always been fascinated about dolls and doll making. This site looks amazing, and oh that cottage...I would love to walk down that driveway for a cuppa.

Thanks for sharing this artist, now I will pour a cuppa and enjoy the links.

I hope you are on the mend. I fall all the time, and I know how sore you can be. We just don't bounce the way we did when we were little.

Hi Sheila, I am home from our shopping trip and I just wanted to stop in and check your post. How darling Chloe is and your post about her creation is so charming. You can weave the best stories. I love the photos as well.

I am happy to hear you are improving my dear friend. What a terrible ordeal. I am so tired, I will be in touch in the morning. We had a wonderful time until driving home today in the most terrible rain. We are safe and sound thank the good Lord.

Love you my friend. Rest and take care of yourself please.

Sheila, Chloe is adorable! What sweet detail in her happy face! Patricia is enchanting and her movie was so full of enticing miniatures. I will enjoy visiting her blog! Thank you for introducing her to us!

I hope you are feeling better and on the mend. I hit my shin on the platform bed in the hotel in Beverly Hills and it turned into an ugly painful bruise so I can only imagine how bad you feel! :-(

Rest up and take it easy until you heal!

Thanks for dropping and nice meeting you too! My real name is Lani Patricia, I have Patricia in my name but I'm not that talented in making craft. In fact, I started some but never finish them. But I did lots of cross-stitching when I was in college.
Have a nice week ahead of you!

Sheila, I soooo enjoyed the video of Chloe and her gift of the drummer boy...it was truly adorable...I could see the mini tea party behind her, and thought of my own tea parties with my dolls when I was little...they are wonderful memories! Lucky you to have Chloe for your very own...she's adorable, and I also love her name! I visited Patricia's blog...wonderful! What a beautiful life she is living, and it's so nice to share in it...it brings delight to the heart, especially in this world of turmoil and fear right now...we need to think on things that are lovely, as the Apostle would tell us to do, and it's blogs like these that help us see that there is still innocence and beauty to enjoy and celebrate each day. Thanks so much for visiting me and sharing this wonderful post!

Blessings,

Mary

Oh, my, beautiful story. Left me teary and breathless.

Things in New Orleans, as they are with everyone, are not always as they seem. It is beyond special to spend a few days with my son, but the household I am staying in is going through one of the hardest of times.

Which brings me to...possibly Disney World next week.

Sheila, I am speechless...

This post is the most beautiful thing that was written about my little universe.
When I read it this morning, I was getting ready to go to the shop. I had a permanent smile on my face almost all day.And when I was feeling tired, or if some people were unkind ( it happens sometimes unfortunately)I just remembered all the lovely words you had witten.
You know, love comes to those who are ready to receive it. Without people like, you, the world would be very sad.

I am overjoyed to see how happy Chloé is. How exciting to see all the little houses around her!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
You are a wonderful person Sheila. I am glad we have met.

All the love from my home to yours.

Dear Sheila, please forgive me for being absent for so long. This week after our trip has been errand filled and car, truck and RV problems. we needed to get license plates for all three and inspections for the truck and car. The truck needed new ball joints, so we had to have repairs. We still do not have it all settled. another trip to town tomorrow is needed. sigh.

I just loved reading about Chloe again and I went to the creator's site. What talent she has. Chloe has so much personality. I love the way her cheeks were redder when she was happy about the toy story.

I do hope you are mending well after your fall. Sheila, send me an email with the address where I can send you mail. I have wanted to know this for a while and kept forgetting to ask you.

I saw on Darlene's comments that you have had migraines. I am so sorry you have that on top of your fall. Maybe the stress brought it on.

You are in my prayers dear friend.
Love and big hugs to you.
