Blue Monday & Blue Stockings!

Happy Blue Monday to everyone, and I want to thank Sally of Smiling Sally's blog for hosting another beautiful Blue Monday!

While I realize that blue stockings are historically considered to be something of lesser value, I can't say that I feel that way about the blue stockings I've collected for Christmas! Christmas stockings have always been one of my favorite parts of Christmas, and I love to share them with young and old alike! I've amassed a large collection of stockings (of many colors and styles) over the years, and here are a fews of the blue ones I pulled for this Blue Monday post. First there's a happy Mr. Sequin Snowman on blue velvet...

Then there are a series of blue chambray stockings I found at Michael's one year. A silly fuzzy bear...

A skinny Santa Claus...

And a dark green Christmas tree...

These stockings not only find their way onto mantles, but sometimes they find their way up the staircase or onto the backs of dining room chairs. You never know where they'll turn up from year to year.

The next three stockings have been through several moves with us. I found the antique Persian rug stocking in a tiny out of the way antique shop one day with my mother, and I've never seen another like it since...

And I found these two stockings for Mr. Magpie and myself on another shopping trip in the after Christmas sales. These are tapestry stockings...

And are backed in a dark navy with a navy tassel on each...

Then the last blue one I have to share with you today it this Florida golfing Santa (in needlepoint) who is playing golf against one of those beautiful Chamber of Commerce blue skies we have down here. Wonder what Santa's handicap is??? ;-)

Here's wishing all of you a Happy Blue Monday, and please join us at Sally's where you can view other Blue Monday posts. Thanks again, Sally. You're a wonderful hostess! :-) Here's a link to her blog...

Thank you for sharing your precious collection of stockings.
We have a stocking for each of our grandchildren and all the parents so at Christmas time, we have 17 stockings hanging by the fireplace....once I get them all in place, I really don't need any other decorations other than our tree...those stocking make quite a statement...
MERRY CHRISTMAS

I didn't do a Blue Monday today but dropped in to see what all you gals are doing. You have come up with an admirable collection of stockings with a bit 'o blue! I did enjoy listening to the Christmas carol while writing this comment. Our Christmas stockings are all red, green and white!

These are all great, Sheila! I've never seen one like that Persian tapestry, either.

Those stockings are a unique collection. I couldn't help but laugh as you mention golf and Florida. My husband plays golf every Wednesday. This week Wednesday is in convenient for him and his buddies, so they're playing NOW--in the beautiful Florida Chamber of Commerce, blue sky weather! Happy Blue Monday!

Happy Blue Monday Sheila! I love your blue stockings. What fun. My absolute favorite is the Persian rug one though! My parents escaped to Persia from Russia separately when they were young, met and were married in Tehran years later before immigrating to the USA after WWII.
Have a very Merry Christmas!

Good Morning, ladies (Ms. Tee, Judith, BJ, Eleanor, Elizabeth, Sally, Judi, White Iris, Carol, Ms. Muse, and Ellen)! I've been enjoying visiting all of your blogs this morning and seeing all of your blue loveliness and other posts! Thank you for stopping by to see me here. Glad you enjoyed the collection of blueness. I had some other blue ones, but my camera battery was wearing down, and the hour was late! If I had posted the red ones, we would all still be here! LOL! ;-)

Ellen, your story is FASCINATING about your parents! SO neat!

Glad to see you all!

XO,

Sheila :-)

A stocking collection is a wonderful idea. I especially like the tapestry stockings.

My husband would love the golfing Santa. We are currently trying to sell our house and move to St. Augustine. I noticed your comment about St. Augustine on another blog, which led me to wonder if you lived there.

It sounds sort of geeky, but I am hoping to meet new blog friends, so when we do move, I can meet them in person.

What a nice collection of stockings. We have quite a few as we've replaced the ones we had with new ones. I've kept all the old ones but never think about using them anymore. You gave me a good idea. Next year I intend to decorate the banister. This might be a good place to use some of the "old" stockings.
Merry Christmas.

Hello dear Sheila, it took me all day to be able respond to all the kind comments today. I did this post for Bill. I knew it would be hard to do. He poured over photos all week and I couldn't say no. Your kind words were so nice to read. We think she was beautiful too. We too will someday have another poodle but not for awhile. When you find your furball I sure want to know. Bill is looking at groomers but we know it isn't time.

Your stocking are so much fun and beautiful too. I find myself looking at them all the time. Some of them are so lovely. A fun thing to collect but with a limit. LOL.

Happy Blue Monday...Love, Jeanne

Hello Sheila!
I apologize for the mixup but I just received the holiday tags that you sent me today. When you emailed me and mentioned them I was thinking they were some other tags that I received! Thank you so much! They are adorable. :)I was wrapping last minute gifts today and they were perfect! I appreciate it and I'm happy you're enjoying the cd.
Blessings,
Laura

Hi Sheila! Your stocking collection is wonderful! I think they're all special. Since this house doesn't have a fireplace with a big mantle like our former home did I'm creative about where I hang our stockings as well. Backs of chairs and hutch doors work perfectly...even doorknobs.

Happy Blue Monday! Hugs, Andi

I have a thing for santas, so my favorites are the santa stockings. I also love that royal blue of the first stocking.

I never thought to collect stockings. Oh, no! Another collection!

I enjoyed your post. :-)

Gina,

I just adore stockings! I used to get as excited over that as I did over Santa's big presents when I was little. My husband used to golf a lot so he got that Santa golfer one year. I really love the red stockings we have, but I was focussing only on blue yesterday! :-)

Sheila
