Blue Monday: A Bird's Tale And A Blog Drawing

Today is Blue Monday at my good friend Smiling Sally's blog, and all weekend I've been busy-busy trying to spotlight some bloggity friends in overdue thank-you posts. Since one of my posts involves a lot of blue, I hope you will allow me to share it along with a little tale involving a very special bird that was made for me and purchased from two very talented young friends (ages seven and five). So if you're willing, and without further ado, I'd like to share:

A Bird's Tale
by Mrs. Magpie

Once upon a time, not so very long ago, Mrs. Magpie received this lovely toilish box in the mail. It came from far, far away and managed to arrive all safe and sound in the Blue Check Forest where the Magpies reside...

Mr. and Mrs. Magpie couldn't wait to open it...

And when they did, out flew this little cranberry-colored bird with cranberry, white, and gray-blue striped wings. His name was Flit...

The first thing Flit did was flutter to the top of the window to look out...

Then he flew through the open door and landed in an azalea bush...

Then Flit decided to flitter around the Blue Check Forest, just because he could...

The first person Flit met was Mr. McGregor who was resting in his garden. Mr. McGregor was all dressed up in his blue overalls...

Flit was quite taken with Mr. McGregor's wheel barrow [that just so happens to be made in the shape of a carrot]. And Flit perched there on top of a particularly large load of vegetables and cabbage shredded for coleslaw...

Next, Mr. McGregor gathered together a group of his friends to meet Flit. First in line was Minnie Pearl Bunny, all decked out in her blue check attire...

Flit was quite taken with Minnie and was particularly impressed with the great deal she got on her new Easter bonnet [tag still attached, much like the tag on the seat in Mrs. Magpie's car]...

Then there was Uncle Wiggly Rabbit who regaled the bird with tales of life in the Blue Check Forest...

They became fast friends, both being kindred spirits and very, very sweet-natured critters...

Uncle Wiggly Rabbit introduced Flit to some more friends who just so happen to be triplets. Flit got to meet Flopsy and Mopsy who are very bouncy young rabbits. Cottontail, having been very naughty, had managed to hop into hot water with his mother, and at this juncture was sitting in "time out" and unavailable for photo ops...

The bunnies let Flit try out their Easter basket...

He thought it would be a nice place to take a nap after his long air mail flight, but Flopsy and Mopsy needed it for their eggs...

So Flit found a nice tole [not to be confused with toile] topiary tree with pink berries and a big blue bow, and there he sat...

And sat...

Just thinking about nothin' like birds sometimes do. Then, all of a sudden, Mr. Bluebird appeared...

Being all about happiness, Mr. Bluebird took Flit for a trip to the local antique mall where he ogled a couple of shiny objects...

But he particularly loved the paperweight that looked like it had a little tree inside...

Mr. Bluebird had other appointments to keep, so he gave Flit directions and a key to his new home. Then Mr. Bluebird went on his merry way. The key had a tassel that was blue among other colors...

Flit then set about trying to find his new home. First he asked directions from a couple of birds perched on the roofs of twin blue townhouses. One bird said to fly north, and the other said south. You see, the weather had them very, very confused. But...

Both agreed that Flit's cottage was just past the big pink church where they liked to gather as a flock on Sundays.

And what a church it was!

As Flit edged closer...

He realized the church was a pretty good match for him [particularly with his pink beak]...

Just as he knew his cottage would be a good match, too...

For when he arrived at the cottage with the turquoise blue columns, who rushed out to greet him, but Mr. and Mrs. Magpie all dressed in their turquoise blue to match...

And they tweeted....

And they twittered...

All the livelong day....

And Flit lived happily ever after...

But wait...

Hold the phone...

Flit revealed the names of the two special little ladies who sent him to live with the Magpies...

And their names are Aubrie and ...

And Rylee... just like it says on the tag...

And they are also known by their professional names, The Wildflowers...

Which they use in the Land of Blog...

And Flit has this special bouqet just for them...

For being such wonderful Etsy Entrepreneurs. That's Big Bird talk for being super good busniess people!

And if you'd like to visit The Wildflowers, you may get there by going to their mother's blog called The Wild Raspberry, and if you would like to see more blue posts, you may do so by going to Smiling Sally's. As for me, I'll be visiting both blogs and you as well!

Thank you for visiting me! All comments left today will be another chance to win my blog drawing in honor of my first 100 posts. As to the goodies... well, I'm still busy gathering shiny objects so they will be announced later. I like surprises, don't you??? ;-)

Happy Blue Monday!

XO,

Mrs. Magpie (Sheila)... who appreicates all the shiny comments you left for me in my 100th post! You're the best! :-)

Love Flit but guess what? We have the SAME glass blue bird. How did that happen. They are twins. The history behind mine is that I received it from my Godmother who is 92. She gave me all her little treasures and blue bird was one of them. Do you know more about them? I love to know more about this little guy.
Happy Blue Monday my friend.
